Tommie M. (Lane) Wicks Obituary (1940 - 2023)

Tommie was born March 27, 1940 in Yorktown, Texas to Cole, Sr. and Cerrillia Lane. Her parents, two sisters, and one brother preceded her in death. She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Friendly Will Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. E.M. Franklin. Tommie was educated in the Austin Public Schools; after graduation she attended Austin Cosmetology beauty school. She was a beautician for fifty years and worked at the House of Elegance. Her last ten years she was owner of Tommie's Beauty Salon. She also worked for Texas Employees Retirement System for twenty-one years, retiring in May 2003. Later in life she joined East Side Baptist Church. Tommie loved working in her mission and serving as an usher. She was active in church until her health failed her. She was loving and kind to all. On Saturday, January 28, 2023, Tommie was called to her heavenly home. She leaves to cherish her memories two adopted daughters, Demetra (Orane) and Nicole Lane; her two sisters, Annie Terrell of California and Julia Moore (Billy) of Austin; and many nieces and nephews. She leaves three special friends Mittie Bolden, Dorothy Gregg, and Nickie Allen. "For the Lord is the great God, the great King above all gods." - Psalms 95:3
