It is with a chuckle and a tear that we share the news of Todd Best's latest adventure. As of October 6th, 2026, our beloved Todd has hit the highway of eternity, taking his ambitious spirit, loving heart, and dedicated soul on a journey beyond our mortal map. Born on July 19th, 1963 in Del Rio, TX, Todd had a knack for taking the road less traveled, often in an 18-wheeler full of cement.
Todd's career as a truck driver for Espinosa Stone was far from just a job. It was his passion, his calling, and his extended family. He was as dedicated to his colleagues as he was to delivering cement—and that's saying something. His co-workers at Espinosa Stone were more like his second family, the kind of kinship that doesn't require any blood relation. In the words of Maya Angelou, "Family isn't always blood, it's the people in your life who want you in theirs."
When not behind the wheel, Todd could be found indulging in his other loves: softball and horses. He had the swing of Babe Ruth and the horse sense of a seasoned cowboy, passions that brought him immense joy throughout his life. Whether on the diamond or in the saddle, Todd was truly in his element. As Groucho Marx once said, "If you're not having fun, you're doing something wrong."
Surviving Todd is a loving convoy of family and friends. His ex-wife, Kathy Carrington, and daughters Tiera, Courtney, Imani, and Nyana Best, along with step-daughter Montreale Clack, will remember him fondly. His grandchildren, Arianna Gonzales and D’aire Price-Best, will carry on his legacy. His siblings, Valencia and Anissa Best and Alton Washington, will keep his memory alive. He is preceded in death by his parents, Alfred Best and Dorothy Simpson.
In the end, Todd was a man as solid and reliable as the cement he hauled. He was a beacon of ambition, a reservoir of love, and a monument of dedication. His laughter, love, and legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. As Mark Twain once quipped, "The reports of my death are greatly exaggerated." Well, Todd, in your case, they're sadly accurate, but your spirit is as alive as ever.
We encourage you to share your memories of Todd and upload photos to the memorial page. In this way, Todd's journey continues, fueled by our love and laughter. Safe travels, Todd. You are, and always will be, the Best.
