It is with a heavy heart that we announce the transition of Samatha Marie Demuchest to her heavenly abode on November 12, 2024. Born on February 4, 1993, in New Orleans, LA, Samatha, fondly known as Matha, was a beacon of love, strength, and devotion. Her life was a testament to the power of love and the strength of the human spirit, which she tirelessly nurtured through her incredible love for her family and friends.
Samatha was a woman of many talents, but her most impressive and cherished was her ability to create a home filled with love and warmth. She was a loving and caring mother to her four beautiful children, Somiyon, Jaquan, G'ahmad, and Somaya, who were the center of her universe. A supportive sister to Lasher, Rudy, and Lovie, she was always there to lend a listening ear and a comforting shoulder. She was the cherished daughter of Elmonia Demuchest and the late James Byrd, and a beloved granddaughter to Betty and Paul Skipper.
Having moved from New Orleans to Austin, Texas, Samatha quickly established her home as a hub for family gatherings. Her kitchen was the heart of her home, where she showcased her love for cooking, serving dishes as thoughtful and warm as she was. The aroma of her culinary creations would fill the air, becoming a symbol of her nurturing and generous spirit.
Scripture says in Proverbs 31:28, "Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her." This verse encapsulates the essence of Samatha's life, a life dedicated to her family, filled with love, and a testament to her unwavering faith. She was a woman of substance, of grace, and of immeasurable strength, who left a profound impact on everyone she met.
A public visitation will be held on Saturday, December 28, 2024, at 10:00 am CST at the King-Tears Mortuary, 1300 East 12th Street, Austin, Texas, 78702. The funeral service will also be held at the same venue on the same day.
In these times of sorrow, let us remember Samatha for the love she shared, the joy she spread, and the lives she touched. We invite you to share your memories of Samatha and upload photos to the memorial page, as a tribute to her beautiful life. Let us celebrate Samatha Marie Demuchest, a woman of love, a woman of faith, and above all, a woman of resilience.
