Ruben Clay (Chumley) Demps Obituary (1965 - 2017)

Ruben was born January 16, 1965 in Austin, Texas to Norma Demps Brown and Ruben Brown. Ruben was the first of five children. He attended Austin Public Schools and graduated with the class of 1983 from Sidney Lanier High. Ruben has a passion for Tennis. He enlisted in the United States Army and remained until discharged in January of 1988. He was employed with Farmers INsurance and later continued his career in Retail and Food Service. He was known to friends and family as a humanitarian, always willing to help wherever he could. Ruben departed this life October 20, 2017, after a battle with cancer in Austin, Texas. Preceding him in death is one sister, two aunts, fur uncles, both his paternal and maternal grandparents. Left to cherish his memories are both parents, one brother Wesley Brown (Tamika), Austin, Texas; two sisters Keisha Brown Austin, Texas, Tanya Brown, Jarrell, Texas; four nieces Ashley Smart, Kashay Hargrove, Kiara Doyle, all residing in Austin, Texas and Tierra Brown, Tacoma, Washington; one great nephew Jaiden Hargis; three great nieces Raya Selby, Ka'mari Williams, Kali Bolden residing in Austin, Texas; and a host of friends and relatives.
