Nuralee V. Lee Obituary (1935 - 2017)

Nuralee V. Crosby was born to Reverend Andy Charles and Pinkie Lucinda Crosby on January 28, 1935, in Lewisville, Texas. Reverend Andy Charles Crosby was assigned as a Pastor of Bethel A. M. E. Church in Lewisville. She was the sixth of nine siblings - Dorothy Lee, Mattie Lene, Louis Charles, William Dexter, Grace Lois Marie, Nuralee V., Mary Frances, Doris Jean, and James who passed away at the age of one. At an early age, Nuralee gave her life to Christ and began a life of service to others. In 1952, Nuralee graduated from Fred Moore High School in Denton, Texas and continued her education at Huston-Tillotson College, now Huston-Tillotson University, in Austin, Texas. She was active in the choir, business club and Zeta Phi Beta, graduating with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Education on May 27, 1957. On June 8, 1957, Nuralee V. Crosby was united in holy matrimony to Otis Lee, Jr. To their union, two daughters were born - Patrice Evett and Alyce Danette. The family joined Ebenezer Baptist Church where they demonstrated their love for Christ by serving others. Nuralee's affiliations at Ebenezer Third Baptist Church included Deaconess, Educational Secretary during the pastoral leadership of Reverend Robert L. Rowe, Junior Missionary Society, and charter member of the Chancel Choir. She also sang in the Sanctuary Choir. Nuralee also served as team captain of the Woman's Day Observances on several occasions. Her additional activities included membership in the National Council of Negro Women, where she served as Treasurer, Chair of the Membership Tea, Chair of Final Womanhood Martin Luther King, Jr. Observance Committee, and member of Alpha Kappa Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, where she pledged in college. Her love for children and education led her to seek employment with the Austin Independent School District in Special Education. Her career in teaching included Brooke Elementary (August 26, 1968 - June 3, 1971); Rosedale Elementary (August 30, 1971 - May 31, 1975); Brentwood Elementary (August 23, 1975 - June 1, 1977) and the Clifton Center (August 23, 1977 - May 21, 1997) where she retired after 29 years of service to the Austin Independent School District. Nuralee V. Lee had a beautiful heart and a genuine passion in serving her family and others. She was a compassionate and loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband, Otis Lee, Jr., four sisters, and two brothers. She leaves to cherish fond memories: her daughters, Patrice Lee-Johnson and Alyce Ebbs (Bobby); Mary F. Greene, sister from Dallas, TX; William Dexter Crosby, brother from Denver, CO; Britany Wicks Johnson, granddaughter (Terrie); Landon Johnson, grandson; Brianne Sanders, granddaughter; Geordon Sanders, grandson; Miracle Ebbs, granddaughter; and great grandchildren, Braylon Wicks, Draveah Hill, Andrew Hill, Xavier Hill, Aaron Clayborne, Dominique Barlow, Corinthia (Cori) Johnson and a wealth of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
