Margie Nell Miles Obituary (1948 - 2020)

Margie Nell Miles, fourth born of seven children of the Reverend Jimmy Miles and Maude Williams Miles was born April 25, 1948 in Austin, Texas. Margie was baptized at an early age at Parks Springs Baptist Church in Manor, Texas. Margie grew up to have an idyllic childhood in East Austin with an abundance of family, friends, teachers and neighbors. She and her sister, Shirley were part of a select group to participate in the first Upward Bound Program at Huston-Tillotson College, under the direction of Dr. Exalton Delco, where many life-long friendships were created. Margie is a 1967 graduate of the Old L. C. Anderson High School, she attended Huston-Tillotson College, Tarrant County Junior College in Fort Worth and also other institutions of higher learning and specialized training courses in preparing for her future. One of Margie's first jobs was as an admired Barmaid at the popular Sam's Club on 12th St. in East Austin. She was also a dedicated employee for the Texas State Comptroller's Office for over 25 years. Margie was a devoted daughter, sister, valued family member, proud mother and good friend to many. Margie is the proud descendent of Paternal Great Grandparents Henry (Tennessee) and Anne Williams and Maternal Great Grandmother Lee Davis (Lee County, Texas). She is preceded in death by maternal grandparents Ben and Georgia Davis Williams; paternal grandparents, Charlie and Relia Routt Miles; parents, brothers: James, Tommy and Charles; great- grandson Jordan; loving and missed aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. She leaves to mourn her passing her loving son, Demetrius "Cho" A. Miles; siblings: Floyd Miles (Lois), Austin; Anthony Miles (Beverly) Watauga, TX; Shirley Miles Wren, Austin; granddaughters: Brittany, Tiana, LaClea and grandsons, Dominick and Demetrius Jr. and a host of nieces and nephews, friends and relatives. Margie would want the gang - Bab, Mary Ann, Laine, Etta B, Bennie Jewel, Ruby Joe, Diana, Cyndi Kay, Gina, Rachel, Denice, Shirley and Shon to know how much she appreciated all our Wonder Years of growing up and spending Saturday Girl Times together and summers under the protection and watchful eyes of our loving grandparents and extended family in the St. John Community. To the many who has shown the family a great source of strength, compassion and love and the Bad Boyz and Girlz, we greatly appreciate all you have done for us each time we are felled with grief and loss.
