Laverne (Doll) (Knox) Littlejohn Obituary (1927 - 2021)

In addition to her parents, her brother Tommy Knox preceded her in death. She accepted Christ at an early age and joined Pleasant Valley Baptist Church under the leadership of her Grandfather Rev. T. H. Wright. LaVerne attended Pleasant Valley Elementary School and was a graduate of Anderson High School class of 1947 in Austin, Texas. In 1952, LaVerne joined the Army and served at the Landstunl Germany Hospital and at the Fitz Simmons Army Hospital in Colorado until she was honorably discharged in 1957. In 1961, LaVerne moved to Cleveland, Ohio and worked for the Veterans Administration as a Dental Assistant until she retired in 1987. She joined Antioch Baptist Church in Cleveland, Ohio, and became a faithful member for over 55 years. LaVerne's favorite hobby was gardening. She loved growing beautiful flowers and vegetables. She dutifully tended two plots at the community garden in addition to her home garden. When it was time to harvest, LaVerne would barely be able to close her freezer because of how much she had harvested. LaVerne could work in her garden all day and would frown upon anyone who did not work as long or as hard. LaVerne leaves behind her husband Ronald Littlejohn of Cleveland, Ohio, sister Helen Ware Shoulds of Austin, Texas, a nephew, niece, and a host of cousins and friends to cherish her memory.
