John Abdullah Sayyid (Bailey) Obituary (1947 - 2021)

C. and Johnnie Mae Bailey. He attended public schools and graduated from Johnston High School. Following graduation John enlisted n the military where he faithfully served his country including two terms of service in Vietnam. John was honorably discharged from the military and upon his return to Austin in 1986 he became a practicing Muslin and changed his name to John Abdullah Sayyid. In 1991 he completed his course of study at the Commonwealth College of Funeral Service obtaining his degree in Mortuary Sciences and 1995 was awarded his Funeral Director's license by the State of Texas Funeral Service Commission. On June 25, 2004 he was united in matrimony with Shirley Stewart. Throughout his life, John provided embalming services to several funeral homes throughout Austin and the surrounding area. John was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Bobby Joe Bailey and Larry Ray Bailey and one daughter, LaTiona Watters. He leaves to cherish a lifetime of memories his wife Shirley Stewart (Sayyid); hs daughter and granddaughter Andrea Bailey Galloway and Nakayla of Tyler, Texas; his two sisters Lois "Mickie" Johnson (LaRoy) and Virginia Williams (Freddie) of Austin; his step children Lisa Hayes, James "Bubba" Hayes, Tiffany Livingston-Spivey (Michael) and Calvin Shepherd (Sherry); one uncle George Atwood of Austin; one aunt, Viola Bailey of San Antonio, along with other nieces, nephews, loved ones and friends
