Joe Nell Earls

–

Littleton, CO

On January 24, 1945 in Littig, TX, Joe Nell Earls was born to the late Josephine Loggins and Buford Earls. He was the youngest son of five siblings who all preceded him in death, Herman Hunter, Horace Loggins, Verna Sedwick and Ruby Jackson. They were raised in a Christian home and he accepted Christ at an early age.
Joe Nell was educated in the Travis County public school system, attended L.C. Anderson High School in Austin, TX then served in the Job Corps. He enlisted in the Navy in 1967. After serving as an Airman (AN) during the Vietnam War, he worked as a machinist in Long Beach, CA. After moving to Houston, TX he later earned an Associates degree and worked as an installer at Southwestern Bell. Joe Nell was a very creative and innovative thinker. By the time he retired, he had patented several processes and inventions he created during his career. After retirement, he worked as a self-employed entrepreneur.
Joe Nell loved his children and was a great brother and uncle. He would do anything for anyone in need. In his early years, he served as a great role model to his family, inspiring and motivating his nephews and nieces to pursue education, job corps opportunities, or the military to better their financial and social status and create more options for themselves. More importantly, he was a good father and did his best to make sure he raised strong and independent children. He enjoyed fishing so he taught us how to fish...how to survive.
Joe Nell was called home early in the morning on July 4, 2023. He leaves behind to carry on his legacy, four children, Ruth Ann Bonds of Austin, TX, Joe Christopher Earls (Maya), of Highlands Ranch, CO; Malcolm Joe Earls of Killeen, TX; LaKeysha Joenell Reese of Houston, TX; seven grandchildren DeLovell and Maliah Earls and TaLeeza (Christoper) Golden of Colorado Springs, CO, LeCree'a Smith and Samaria Ross of Austin, TX and Brittney Earls and Jaedon Reese of Houston, TX; four great-grandchildren Madison and Allison Sowell of Houston, TX and Amiri Banks and Charli Golden of Colorado Springs, CO; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Granddaughter Nevaeh Earls and son-in-law, Darryl Reese preceded him in death.
