Floree Asbell Morris Obituary (1919 - 2018)

Mrs. Floree Asbell Morris was born in Bleckley County (Cochran), Georgia on September 7, 1949. Mrs. Morris will always be remembered as an honest, caring and spunky woman who truly showed her love and compassion for others through her actions. She was a devout Christian who strove to lead and live her life as an example for others. Our beloved Mrs. Morris departed this life on earth on June 1, 2018 with her loving family by her side at h er daughter's home in Austin, Texas. She was 98 years old. Mrs. Morris was married to the late Rev. O. L. Morris from September 4, 1951 until his death on January 13, 2012. During their life together she served as the First Lady of the churches where he pastored for over 40 years. She retired from Macon Linen Service. Both Rev. and Mrs. Morris were members of the Saint Luke Baptist Church in Macon, Georgia, where they remained member until their deaths. In 2017 Mrs. Morris was recognized as the oldest member of Saint Luke. She was a faithful member of the Senior Choir for over 50 years and the Women's Auxiliary. Mrs. Morris was also an active member of Macon No. 5 Prince Hall Order of Eastern Star. Rev. and Mrs. Morris were blessed to have three children who loved them both very dearly. She is survived by sons, Lonnie Joe Morris (Macon, Georgia - wife, Sylvia Morris) and Carzell Morris (Miami, Florida - wife, Charlet Morris) and one daughter, J. LaVerne Morris-Parker (Austin, Texas - husband, Rev., Dr. Joseph C. Parker, Jr. Esq.). From her previous marriage, Mrs. Morris has one surviving son, Harvey Hughes, Sr. (Vallejo, California - wife, Clari Hughes), who will also miss her in spirit, as he suffers with Alzheimer's disease. Two other children from her previous marriage, james Hughes and Julia Mae Hughes, preceded her in death. In addition to her children, she leaves to cherish her precious memories several grandchildren, great and great-great grandchildren and a host of other loving family members and dear friends, including a thoughtful and devoted family friend, Mrs. Jacqueline Pleasants (Austin, Texas). Mrs. Morris -- wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, friend and above all, God's faithful servant, will be greatly missed here on earth. We look forward to seeing her again in Heaven.
