Austin, Texas
Delvin Eugene Bunton, a charismatic soul known for his humility and compassion, walked into the arms of his parents in heaven on March 5, 2024. Born under the bright Texan sun in Austin on October 30, 1954, he lived his life with the spirit of adventure, never backing down as the top running back from the thrill of a good football match at Stephen F. Austin HS in the 70's or the suspense of an NFL game. The same courageous spirit was evident in his career, too, as he navigated his journey through life with the poise of a track star, never losing sight of his path. He also served in the army reserve from 70-72.
Delvin was a man of many talents. His high school years were decorated with stints as a football and track star, creating memories that he cherished throughout his life. Yet, despite his accolades, Delvin remained deeply humble. It was this humility that endeared him to all who knew him. His success never overshadowed his compassionate nature, and he always had a kind word and a helping hand for those around him.
Delvin's love for life extended beyond the sports field. He was a devoted family man, and his love for his wife Brenda Williams, whom he spent 40 years of his life with and married for 4, and family member Toni Gums was evident in his every action. Whether it was watching a track race together or sharing stories in the quiet hours of the night, Delvin's love for his family was his greatest achievement. He was also very talented at playing the piano. He is preceded in death by his mother Earline Brazell; father Jesse Bunton; grandparents John Hardeman and Isetta Thompson; aunts Dorothy Hardeman; Doris Perkins and uncle James Hardeman ; Earl Hardeman. He is survived by his wife, Brenda, daughters Marion Townsend , Destiny Williams sisters Toni Gums ;and Bianca Warmsley;two tep children Kaysha and Brandon Wooley; also one Uncle John Hardeman ; 5 grandaughters and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins, each of whom carry a piece of his adventurous spirit within them.
Delvin's life was a testament to his faith, embodying the words from Proverbs 14:21: "Whoever is kind to the needy honors God." He touched countless lives with his kindness, and his legacy lives on in the hearts of all those whose lives he touched. Delvin's life was celebrated at the King-Tears Mortuary on Saturday, March 23, 2024, and he will be laid to rest at the Austin Memorial Park Cemetery on Saturday, March 23, 2024.
