Rev. Calvin Mcbride Obituary (1945 - 2018)

Reverend Calvin McBride, Jr., son of Calvin McBride, Sr. (deceased) and Lillie Mae (Harris) Barton (deceased) was born November 7, 1945 in Austin, Texas. Surrounded by his children and family, he received his eternal life January 18, 2018 at Seton Medical Center, Austin, Texas. Reverend McBride attended L. C. anderson High School. He worked for many years as a busdriver with the Austin Transit Bus Company. He was called to preach in the later 70's and served many years at Greater Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church under Pastor N. W. Bacon, Jr. Later, Reverend McBride served as Pastor of St. Paul Baptist Churh, Giddings, Texas for several years. Aftr returning to Austin, he served the community in evangelical ministry, and was an associate minister for several hurches. Reverend McBride was a devoted man of God, known for his witty personality and vivacious conversation. He loved studying God's word and had a true servant's heart. He enjoyed driving people around and knew how to get anywhere, and get anything anyone needed or wanted. He would joyfully drive Pastor Bacon and other ministers to various meetings and venues throughout Central Texas. Reverend McBride loved his family and was a viable presence among the McBride clan. It was hard to ignore his presence, his fashion sense, and love for distinctive vehicles. His style was a statement maker. His unique qualities were reinforced by his little laugh that he expressed throughout his conversations. He will truly be missed by everyone who knew him. Reverend McBride will always remain in our hearts and precious memories.
