It is with heartfelt sorrow that we announce the peaceful transition of the creative and loving Bonita Annette Jones on October 6, 2026. Born on June 5, 1959, in San Antonio, Texas, Bonita was a beacon of laughter and love, always dancing and lighting up any room she entered with her infectious spirit. Known for her empathetic nature, she was a pillar of strength and comfort to her loved ones. As someone once said, "A good character is the best tombstone. Those who loved you will remember. Carve your name on hearts, not on marble." This quote resonates deeply with the life Bonita led.
Bonita was a dedicated professional, giving 41 years of service to DDS at the state level. Her work ethic was marked by commitment and passion, which earned her respect among her colleagues. In her spare time, she was a gatekeeper at Greater Swenson Grove, where she nurtured her community spirit. Bonita had a knack for making the ordinary extraordinary. Her love for decorating for holidays and family events was legendary, filling her home in Austin with warmth and joy. Her green thumb was evident in the beautiful plants she nurtured with pride. Much like her plants, she nurtured the lives of those around her with the same dedication and love.
Bonita's family was her pride and joy. She was a loving mother to Dwayne Haywood, a doting sister to Paula Haywood and Keith Ivory, and a cherished great-aunt to Kiana and Kayla Walker. Bonita was preceded in death by her father, Andrew Jones, her mother, Waldene Ivory, and Sister Audrey. She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and unforgettable memories. She was the life of the party, where she could be found either playing dominoes, dancing, or sneaking photos during events. Her family and friends will forever remember her for her funny and caring personality.
As we remember Bonita, we invite you to celebrate her life by sharing your most cherished memories of her on the memorial page. Your stories and photos will serve as a comforting reminder of the joy and love she brought into our lives. Bonita's life was a testament to the power of love, kindness, and laughter, and her memory will continue to inspire us all.
