Algie Mae Mackey Obituary (1952 - 2017)

Algie Mae Mackey was born in Elgin, Texas to the late Samuel and Lula Mae Hendricks on November 3, 1952. She accepted Jesus Christ at an early age and grew up in the Baptist Church. Algie attended Elgin High School and then became a housewife. She was married and had eight children. She was preceded in death by her father, mother, eight brothers, two sisters, two sons and one daughter. Algie leaves to cherish her memory her husband Benjamin Pettiford; eight children, four boys and four girls starting with the oldest to youngest, Olanda Mackey, Barry Mackey, Garry Mackey, Larry Mackey, Felicia Mackey Henson (Donald) Curtis Mackey, Kiona Mackey, Shonta Mackey; sixteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and other relatives, in-laws and friends. Algie was a great sibling, wife, mother, friend and person. She has had a lot of health issues along the way. However, she was a fighter and overcame many obstacles and through it all stayed positive. Algie was such a fun, caring, loving kind hearted, understanding and outspoken woman. She would tell you just how she felt. You know what I mean? Algie used to love Bingo until her eyes had gotten bad, but that didn't stop her from playing the slot machines. Lord did she love to push that button! Although she was a housewife, she was a hard worker. Algie was always there when we needed her and did all she could do. She would give you her last and even take the shirt off her back for you. Even though we loved her so, God loved her more and was ready for her to come home. There she is entering the gates of Heaven walking on the streets of God. The Lord saying, "Well done my good and faithful servant, well done." No more sorrow and no more pain. We all love you and you'll be missed dearly.
