Alfreda Raye Reed Obituary (1946 - 2023)

Alfreda Raye Reed was born July 21, 1946 in Goliad, Texas to the late Berthold Franklin Sr. and Joe Ella (Youngblood) Franklin. She professed her faith in Christ and was baptized at the Minnehulla Baptist Church in Goliad. After graduating from Goliad High School in 1964, she moved to Austin, Texas to work and attend beauty college. She loved "doing some hair." She was a hot comb pressing and curling mastermind! She changed careers and worked faithfully for 25 years for the State of Texas Insurance Department where she met lifelong friends who became her family. She was a proud member of the St. Mary Baptist Church, and she loved her church family dearly. She enjoyed being able to serve by giving the welcome and occasion. She took it very seriously and alwayswanted to give her best for the Lord and for her church family. She loved fiercely and she was loved by many. She was preceded in death by both her parents, husband, Leon Reed Sr., bonus son, and three brothers, Berthold Franklin Jr, Anthony Franklin, and Leon Franklin. She leaves to cherish her precious memories, her wisdom, her laughter, her strength and courage, and her love to her daughter, Lee Lynnette Williams (Rev. E. Shaun), and her "gran girls", Chandler Raye and Kennedy Lee Williams, her sister Florida Franklin and brother Billy Franklin, bonus son, daughter and grandchildren, extended family and friends. We Hold You Close Mother we hold you close within our hearts, and there you shall remain, to walk with us throughout our lives, until we meet again. So, rest in peace our beloved Mother, and thanks for all you have done. We pray that God has given you, the crown you have truly won. You loved her during her race, you loved her well, and now rejoice in the way she lived her life. She loved hard. She laughed hard. And she did things her own unique way. That was "Freda"!
